One of Southern California’s leading tennis personalities and coaches, Brian has been at the forefront of the tennis world for 35 years as a college player, top ten in the world professional, and as a leading coach to the world’s best players.

Brian won the Australian Open singles championship in 1981 and is currently one of only 12 American players ever to have one a Grand Slam singles event in the open era. He was a quarterfinalist at Wimbledon in 1983 and a U.S. Open and Wimbledon semifinalist. He won a total of 23 ATP tour singles and doubles titles and achieved a high ranking of #7 in singles and #5 in doubles.

Before turning professional, Teacher attended UCLA where he claimed the Pac 10 singles and doubles championship in 1974, four times was named an NCAA All-American, and was part of two NCAA championship teams. He graduated with a BS in economics and after a successful pro career went into coaching. As a coach, he led Greg Rusedski from 85 to the top ten in the world and the U.S. Open finals. He has worked with many top 20 in the world singles players in addition to having coached five #1 in the world doubles players.

He also coached So Cal native Marissa Irvin to a #1 in the country junior ranking, a full scholarship to Stanford and a top 50 in the world WTA ranking.

Teacher is a member of the Collegiate Hall of Fame, the Jewish Hall of Fame, and the San Diego Tennis Association Hall of Fame.
